Why is the Incident Meter only available on Android?
This is a hardware restriction set by Apple, not a programming limitation. Currently, iOS does not allow third-party applications to access raw data from the iPhone or iPad ambient light sensor.
While we would love to bring this feature to our iOS users, it is technically impossible until Apple decides to unlock this sensor for third-party developers.
Why should I diffuse the light?
The Problem: Professional light meters use a white dome to accurately measure light from all angles around a subject. Phone cameras and sensors are flat, meaning they can easily be “blinded” by a direct light source or completely ignore light coming from the sides.
The Solution: To get a perfect incident light reading, cover your device’s sensor with a piece of plain white paper or a small diffuser. This averages out the incoming light, giving you a much more stable and professional-grade exposure reading.
